Show LOSES LIFE'S SAVINGS BY FEAR OF BANKS CHICAGO. Juno 1. Lack of faith in banks and tho use of an old vest as a depository cost Dominick Rosato his lifo savings of $747 yesterday. Rosalo placer tho money in tho inside pocket of his vest and hung it on the back of the kitchen door of his home. His -wife emptied the stove, filling an ash bucket with the hot coals. A pcddlor came along, knocked tho vest from the door and it foil into the bucket. Within a few minutes Rocato's pile of bills was reduced to ashes. He will ship the charred bits of his money to tho treasury department in tho hope that he will be reimbursed. He appealed to United Stales Commissioner Footo and swore to an affidavit explaining the circumstances under which six $100 bills, two $50, two $20, a $5 and two $1 .bills were burned, "That $747 was all T had in the world," said Rosato. "When I have money again I will put. it in tho bank, whero it will not bo burned up." |
