| Show SCHOOL examination and exhaustive set of questions propound led the teachers completed their examination labors yesterday afternoon and now comes the work of wilson rees and merril who comprise the board of examiners the new school law provides for three grades of certini cates Those teachers who secure certificates of the first grade must have had five years experience as a teacher and must be twenty one years of age these certificates are for five years and are issued by the territorial commission on the recommendation of the board of examiners exam ners teachers securing certificates of the second grade must have had one years experience as a teacher and must be eighteen years of age the laar makes no further provisions in relation to teachers of the third class than that they must be eigl iteen years of age the board of examiners require that all teachers securing certificates of the first grade must have an average of not less than 85 per cent in their examination those securing second grade certificates must average not less than 70 per cent in their examinations and those securing third grade certificates must pass examination averaging not less than GO per cent athe board prepared entirely new seta ot questions of school curriculum cirri culum and all teachers were required to pass the examination in order to obtain certificates the questions were very exhaustive and thorough they were printed in sets of each applicant being furnished with one sel at the which were required to be answered without any consultation sul tation either with text books or with each other within one and a half hours the board will commence work tomorrow and will probably be occupied in their labors for about a week there will evidently bea a scarcity of teachers during the coming school year as only forty appeared for examination and it is estimated that at least sixty will be required another examination will probably be held in the fall the teachers closed their examination labors with a ball at tanners grove last night |
