Show PREPAREDNESS FOR YOU AND THE NATION Ir i l!lf5 ! H 8? ttn 1 'P J03PI SMITH BUILDING. 1. Y. U. Young people face a shifting, turbulent world a world of opportunity because of swift mechanical and technical progress, but also, a world which offers threats to the nation. Earnest young people in America are impatient to plunge into work of immediate and direct assistance to the preparedness prepared-ness program. But John W. Studebaker, Commissioner of the U. S. Office of Education, writing about "thi tendency of students to enroll in short defense training courses instead of completing their regular college curricula." declares: "... the demand of industry for fully trained professional per sonnol in all fields related to national defense is already greater than the supply, and the need for these fully trained men is going to be greater with the passing years." By taking college work of the right type, young people of high caliber can do much to help their country obtain permanent safety and make steady progress. You can prepare for important service by studying at Brigham Young University. In agriculture, mechanics, sciences, sci-ences, languages, and other fields, the University keeps abreast 'of modern needs and can train you to meet those needs. Already many BYU trained persons are serving as army and navy aviators, mechanics, defense service scientists, etc. How BYU facilities are expanded in response to growing grow-ing demands is shown by the splendid new Joseph Smith ' Building. It has been completed, its spacious auditorium, -classrooms, offices, cafeteria, banquet halls, and lounges are , ready for use. Laboratories, shops, and campus have been placed in-first in-first class order. The faculty is the strongest in the sixty-six year history of the University.
