Show DECLARE BE MEETS ins TO BESS Representative Merchants Protest Pro-test Against Longer Turf Season Than Six Days. Tho city council Thursday evening received re-ceived a petition, or, rather, a protest, asking that race meetings be conllned to a period not longer than six days. The petition recites that "experience shows that long moots causo a drainage of funds from the community and affects general business adversely." The protest was referred to the license, police and municipal laws committees, which have in charge the matters relating relat-ing to horse racing and which arc to take up the question Monday evening. |
