At a meeting Thursday aftcrnon of the stato food and lalry bureau, held in the office of Willard Hansen, state food anil dairy commissioner, arrangements wore made for the regulation of a number of manufactured articles of food and upon imported oysters and shell ilsh. It was decided at the meeting that all manufacturers of vinegar be ordered to place thoir name on every bottle or keg of vinegar sent out and they be held responsible re-sponsible for the condition of tho product at any time after it is sent out. At present pres-ent some of tho vinegar is labeled, but much of it is not, and it Is impossible to trace the manufacturer. As a result, the seller is held responsible and a number of losses have resulted to the dealer where tho manufacturer was really responsible re-sponsible Regarding the oysters and shellfish, It was decided that tho present, system or packing and cooling Is unsanitary and injures in-jures the product- Oysters arc now cooled by placing lco or water In the container con-tainer of the oysters'. In this way tho oysters come in direct contact with the ice and water and are injured, it Is said. The now regulation follows the government govern-ment law and provides that tho lco must bo placed around the outride of the receptacle and must not come in contact con-tact with the meat Itself. Arrangements were also made at tho mooting for some much-needed legislation, legisla-tion, which will be taken up before the next session of the legislature. It was decided that the bureau recommend to the legislature that all food products sold manufactured or ordered for sale In packages have tho name and address of tho manufacturer or distributer stamped on the label or container, and that the company whose namo appears on tho package bo held responsible for any infractions in-fractions of the stato food laws.
