| Show COUNTY COURT business of the december term finished and an adjournment from saturdays DAILY the court proceeded to audit the road supervisors reports received since last session upon the reassembling yesterday afternoon the committee on vault joseph D jones amos D holdaway and v L halliday reported that the contract for building the vault had been awarded to samuel liddiard the lowest bidder the amount being 1044 there was additional expense for cutting necessary openings from the county clerks office removing windows etc making a total cost of the recommended the ap of the amount still ue samuel liddiard on motion of selectman lund the report was accepted and recommendation adopted county attorney samuel R thurman presented his report on the petition w thos whitby praying for remuneration for a cow which he had bought out of ahe alpine pound and which had subsequently been taken from his corral by the original owners and also stating as a reason that judge judd had ruled that the law under which the cow was sold was unconstitutional mr thermos reported that the county could not be held responsible for any defect in titles and recommended that the claim be rejected on motion of selectman holdaway the report was adopted the report of S R thurman and A D holdaway on alie petition of J D jones praying for a salary of 1000 per annum was presented the report is to the affect that the petition cannot be granted as sections 36 and 41 of the law pertaining toj county ed that all services ot certain county officers must be itemized and verified and must state that the services were virtually rendered the law makes no provision for any remuneration of services per annum on motion of selectman jones the report was accepted J D jones and AD holdaway com mattea on the pearce petition praying for a change of the county road reported adversely on the petition the report of county clerk V L halliday on the contingent fund was read and accepted on motion of selectman lund tho sum of was appropriated for the contingent fund court then adjourned till half past morning this morning the court resumed its session W H brown assessor of utah county submitted an additional assessment el sheep herds to the sum of 2100 on motion of selectman lund the same was accepted and ordered to be entered on the general roll amr brown also submits ij a list of names of persons whose taxes be recommended to be remitted for the year the court examined the list and on motion of selectman jones a portion of the taxes were remixed the following claims were audited and allowed to gates snow for table chairs etc john williamson road 29 geo D barnard co for paints measures etc for surveyors office the claims of and others for services rendered harry janett in hia last sickness was presented and referred back for explanation the allowance of claims continued as follows t to S P christensen as road supervisor 16 henry snyder as road supervisor 7 V H brown assessor and collector john williamson for services as pound keeper 10 samuel arash services as pound keeper G 0 haws for services as road supervisor J D jones for services on highways 32 on insane 60 on vault 20 on courthouse 8 total the committee on artesian well reported that they had received bids for the driving of a 4 inch pipe four hundred feet from G W thayer and J E armitstead Armit sted the report was accepted and action on bids deferred till next meeting of the court on motion of selectman jones aba county clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for job printing stationery and blank books for the ensuing year for utah county court adjourned till Janu 15 1890 at 10 am |
