June 10 The committee appointed ap-pointed by the Provo Commercial club to investigate the Halms of the Bell Telephone Tele-phone company for a more liberal franchise fran-chise in Provo than the one granted bv the council, reported to the club last evening. The report .wows, the revenues and expenditures of the company in Provo and concedes that the company Is operating at a loss, but ihc committee made no recommendations A heated discussion dis-cussion on telephone matters ensued, but the report was accepted and ordered filed without any action toward securing a better and moro liberal franchise for the company. The company will therefore, be compelled to light ihc battle alone and unaided. George Beesley of Provo and Mrs. Llllle Kinder of Springvllle wre arrested last night by Marshal "Williams on suspicion of having stolon .a ring from Hat tie Barrett. Bar-rett. The man and woman were closely questioned, Willi the hope of securing u confession, but without result as to ihe stolen ring. Other things were told, however, that will probably clear the moral atmosphere of Provo. The woman will be charged with prostitution and Beesley with unlawful association. The confession made by Beesley and Mrs Kinder Implicates several others In violating vio-lating the moral code, who will be given an opportunity to explain their conduct. The business of the Provo general hospital hos-pital lias increased to such an extent that more room Is an absolute necessity. Plans are accordingly being drawn for a tliree-storv tliree-storv building, with basement, Immediately Immedi-ately north of the hospital. The new building will cost about $30,000, and will bo modern In all parts. L L. Xunn has volunteered to Install a ventilating plant, including an electric apparatus at a cost of SloOO. Dr B. The men had a good sized load of drug store whlskv a board, and were given a chance to sleep It off in the city jail. Each man left s;, for his appearance, which was forfeited. Mrs. Nettle Pigman has returned to her home after being successfully operated oper-ated on for appendicitis at the Provo general gen-eral hospital. A driving mare belonging to Bishop Albert Al-bert Mnnwnrring. while feeding on lite highway, fell into the east draina stream of -water which drains the sv.-ainpv lands east of town and which is covered over, and was dead when found.
