Show Logan News Notes Special lo The Tribune. LOGAN, Sept. 15. The announcement that Professor Wlllard S. Langton of the Agricultural college has received a call to the missionary Held has caused some people here to remark on what some term a rather peculiar coincidence, while others aver that It Is only another evidence of the way the dominant church .enforces discipline In Its ranks. Last spring, when the church authorities authori-ties decided lo degrade - the Brlgbam Young college, lack of funds was given as the reason for the action, so the Boosters' club of this city appointed a committee, consisting of E. n. Owen, bishop or Wellsvllle; Bl.s'hop B, G-Thatcher G-Thatcher of this city and Professor Langton, to visit the authorities and submit lo them a proposal to raise by popular subscription the funds necessarv to keep tho college courses. When this proposal was turned down, of course It showed the falsity of the other reason given, and. to be sure, the authorities did not relish thus being shown up. Since then Owen has been removed from bis bishopric. Mr Thatcher Is now In the Netherlands on a mission, and tho latest report Is that Professor Langton has re-cclevd re-cclevd his call. Koblnson & Co. and the Campbell t Sons company, filed Its articles of Incorporation In-corporation today. The concern Is capitalized capi-talized at $10,000. divided into $100 shares. Tho officers are as follows: President. E. W. Robinson; vice president, presi-dent, y. F. Balllf; secretary. R. L. Campbell, Camp-bell, treasurer. George Dunbar. The new lirm occupies the quarters of tho Campbell Camp-bell company on Main street. The clly schools, which opened vester-day vester-day show the largest enrollment In their history for the opening dav. There was a total enrollment of JII20 for the dav the largest number being at the Woodruff school 67:'. The Brlgbam Young college, which opened lis doors yesterday, reports the lightest attendance in the history of the Institution. the degrading of the school having had Its effect. At the Agricultural Agri-cultural college the reverse is true, the Indications there being that the school will have a record year in the matter of attendance. Of course this Increase Is almost entirely due to ihe transferring of the Brigham Young college students of college grade to the Agricultural college. |
