Show PROF.' WLLLLAM II. BREWER HAS FAITH IN COOK . ITHACA, N. Y., Sept. IS. Prof. William Wil-liam .II. Brewer of Yale discussed the polar controvcy tonight. Professor Brewer, who accompanied Dr. Frederick Freder-ick A. Cook on two expeditions, expressed ex-pressed implicit confidence in Dr. Cook's credibility, but said at the same" time thai "thero is no doubt Commander Command-er Peary reached tho pole, also." Professor Brewer continued: "As Dr. Cook went a year earlier, he probably prob-ably reached the pole firHt. Penr- has been away from civilization much of the time and is an intensely secretivo man. Some of tho more violent statements state-ments attributed to him, may, I think, he explained as the work of over-zealous friends." |
