The legislature passed an appropriation for thc stole central experiment station for the ensuing ensu-ing two vears. on the condition that Lohl give the "farm sixty-three shares of water and American Fork fiftv-throe Hhares. In addition to what tho farm already hns. i.ehl is now ready to fulfill Its agreement. Citizens have purchused sixty-three shares and turned thc certificates over to tho Lchl irrigation company. The board of dlrertors of tho irrigation company com-pany has authorized its president to do-llver do-llver these sixty-three shares to th ex-perimr;nl ex-perimr;nl farm, which completes Lohl s obligation. American Fork citizens are now rustling for the shares of the water which thirty of her citizens guaranteed, and It Is thought that they will have their end of tho agreement carried out in a few days. Dr. Ball, director of the state experiment experi-ment station, spent yesterday at the central cen-tral station, and expressed a desire that the two towns supply the water al an earlv date, as it Is necessary that plans be developed and work commenced at one on the experiments for the coming vear. The state will do nothing with the farm If th'-so two towns do not supply the extra water ut an early date. The farm of Itself has enough water for ordinary purposes, but the state, before be-fore locating ihi farm hero, required that tho ounplv be doubled. About thirty tcltl zens o'f American Fork ultmed an agreement agree-ment guaranteeing one-half ot this defir cloncy. and the same numbor of Lchl citizens signed a duplicate agreement Guaranteeing the other half of the deficiency. defi-ciency. There has been somo misunderstanding misunder-standing regarding the matter, but tho legislative commllteo having pluced a definite construction on the acreononts, It Is now thought that tbu matter will be ettld to the pntlsfactlon of tho state. |
