Show AS 1 lt itce I GIVE THE OLD FOLKS AN OUT it is often remarked why cannot utah county have an 01 J folks excursion aa well as salt lake county the question is certainly a plausible one and a very proper one there is no reason why such a thing cannot be done we certainly have got sufficient aged to warrant an excursion and as certain have we got men and women with bearta larg enough to help financially in such a no doubt at all but what if the matter was taken hold of and worked up that a rousing time for the old folks could be arranged inside of alie next six weeks one of the white haired veterans who is in his eighty fifth year and still able to read and write without the aid of glasses sends us the following communication muni cation on the subject of an excursion I 1 find that the children of a young growth in this city in each ward have had an out given them to the laface view gardens how would it be if the children of an older growth say from seventy to one hundred were taken out by the young ladies and gentlemen for a treat to the same place cr cluid not this stake have an out for the old folks similar to the salt lake stake the railway cars run close to the grounds and no doubt john sharp superintendent of the utah central would do something in the way similar to the salt lake stake in their annual old folks excursion why not utah stake follow example the trains going north and south go within a short distance of the lake view gardens and each ward might join together and give the old folks a picnic there is no doubt the different bands and choirs would lend hearts and hands to make it an occasion to be long remembered bv the old folks |
