Show PLAYING HIDE-AND-SEEK WITH THE OFFICERS Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Oct. 6. Lonie Murdock, tho 14-year-old girl who disappeared from her home over a week ago, Is just now engaged en-gaged in a little game of hide-and-seek with the officers of tho juvenile court. The girl lives at 243 Haley avenue. Several Sev-eral months ago she hitched up the family fam-ily horse, and, after stowing away her personal effects In tho vehicle and taking $10 from a drawer in the house, dropped from sight. Several weeks elapsed before be-fore she was found in Salt. Lake and returned re-turned to her home. Tho call of the wild was too strong for the girl and about ten days ago slio saddled the same animal which had accompanied ac-companied her on her first flight, and again faded away. Since that time no trace had been found of the girl until Thursday morning, when sho was seen at the residence of a girl friend on North Washington avenuo by Probation Officer H. C. Jacobs. At the approach of tho officer the girl mounted her faithful steed, which had been left tethered near by, and rode away In a cloud of dust. Deputy Sheriff Murphy, after several hours' search this ovenlng, located the girl at the home of a friend near Five Points. Tho girl is being detained at the county jail. She gives as hor reasons rea-sons for running away from home tho unkind un-kind treatment of her stepfather, Thomas Haley. |
