Show CITY COUNCIL the Pro gramme of business transacted last saturday evening the city council met in special session pursuant to adjournment the petition of W R pike medical superintendent of the territorial insane asylum protesting against the depositing of carcasses of dead animals immediately south of said asylum was presented and on motion referred to the committee on quarantine the bill to prohibit the use ol 01 billiard tables and table and ball alleys was reported from the committee on judiciary as postponed adopted the committee on claims reported the disallowing of the claim of isaac follett adopted the committee on public grounds and city property reported favorably on the claims of david james co adopted the committee on finance reported aa having examined the reports of the for the year 1886 and 1887 and found them correct adopted the committee on finance reported favorably on the petition of tho provo silver band for uniforms and becom mended the appropriation of for that purpose councilor mcewan amended the report by adding the words and fifty after one hundred so as to read one hundred and fifty dollars the amendment was seconded and the report was deferred till next session for action the committee on cemetery handed in their report which was adopted the city assessor and collector submitted a list of recommendations for remittance of taxes for 1887 which on motion was adopted councilor glazier moved that each bo allowed the members of this council for each attendance as in accordance with resolution offered to be computed at the end of the present term carried alderman brown offered the following which waa adopted I 1 move that chapter 4 title 6 also section 2 title 9 revised ordinances be referred to on judiciary with instructions to take into consideration the advisability visibility ad of amending said chapter and section and report at next meeting of the council on motion of alderman booth the committee on irrigation waa authorized and instructed instruct sd to proceed in the matter of distribution of water to provo city for 1888 as has been customary with said committee in the last three seasons past on motion of councilor mcewan 2500 was appropriated to pay the city sexton for clean mg one hundred lots of provo city cemetery on motion of councilor mcewan council adjourned till saturday evening at 7 |
