Show INSURGENTS ROUTED Smoot Republicans Claim Victory Vic-tory in Majority of Election Elec-tion Districts. SOME SPIRITED CONTESTS, HOWEVER. ARE REPORTED Complete List of Delegates Selected Se-lected for State and Judicial Judi-cial Conventions. Smoot Kcpublicnns arc gratified as a result, of tho Salt Lake county Republican Repub-lican primaries Monday, and claim j that the insurgents were hopelessly defeated de-feated iti every district. This is not admitted by the insurgents, who succeeded suc-ceeded in designating some strong men for tho Stale and judicial conventions. conven-tions. Thc vote cast, according lo Republicans, Republi-cans, exceeded tho most sanguine expectations, ex-pectations, every polling placo sending in largo returns. The primaries were brightened in several districts by j spirited lights, in which the insurgents were the aggressors. Both in the city j and county districts the contests were lively, one or two being cspcciall3' warm. Tn district four. S. A. Stanford, insurgent, was defeated by N. If. Tanner, Tan-ner, by the. narrow margin of four voles. Mr. Stanford would have easily beaten his opponent had not Stanley Price, a Gentile, cast .his lot with Tanner. Tan-ner. In many precincts tho polls were packed with "the Smoot crowd, aud it was a foregone conclusion that the insurgents in-surgents would be completely routed in these districts. In Other Precincts. Thi insurgents won especially successful suc-cessful in district eight, 'Meeting O. IT. Hewlett and C. A. F.rickson to the Stat' convention. .1. U. Fddredgc. Jr., and 1. B. Pall were elected on the judicial ju-dicial ticket. In the Fifteenth the insurgents, in-surgents, lpd bv Parley P. Christcnscn, made a heroic effort to carry tho ballot, but were defeated by the Smoot bunch, led by George Buckle. Sr. The Republicans of district twenty-six twenty-six were bound to havo a little excitement. excite-ment. The trouble was caused by C. R. Vigus. who protested the election of John C Mrf'lain as a delegate to Jlui State "vrohVeiitiou upon a technicality. It appears that the ballots did not signify what McClain was running for. A heated argument, resulted, which some of the older heads tried to subdue, sub-due, but the vounger element would talk, and h'ually a protest was put in writing, stating the exact facts in the matter, which will be filed with the committee on credentials of the judicial judi-cial convention.
