Show HEW BATTERY THAT PROMISES IMS Invention of Milwaukee Man .Expcelod lo Surpass All Others for Autos. FOND DU LAC, Wis., Dec. 2, A primary pri-mary electro-chemical battery which, if it is what is claimod for.it, will mark a now era in tho electrical world, is about lo bo put upon tho markot by a company whose factory and ofiicos will ho located in Fond dii Lac. Tho company com-pany has been incorporated under the laws of Wisconsin. The inventor is a Milwaukoo man, a graduate of Yalo, but for business reasons rea-sons his name and that of l.ho company-will company-will bo withheld for a few days. He was formerly a lecturer on electro-chemistry and his discovery was made somewhat some-what by accident, but ho has been three years perfecting tho invention. According to tho descriptions of tho battery furnished, a standard cell, weighing eighteen pounds, has a capacity ca-pacity ot 1000 ampere hours without to-charging. to-charging. The coll is six inches square and ten inches deep. A staudurd storage stor-age coll of the samo dimensions has a capacity of 200 ampero hours, weighs at least fifty- pounds and requires about eighty hours to charge. The now battory can bo recharged in a fow minutes. All that is necessary is to add 90 per cent of water to the chomicals which aro manufactured in tlio form of crystals or a thick syrup. Enough to charge torty colls, weighs about thirty pounds, and it is claimed will carry a touring car 400 to 500 miles. Tho cost of current is said to bo less than 2 cents a kilowatt. In a recent test a runabout traveled 260 miles between Milwaukee, Chicago aud Waukesha on ono charge. A test with a touring car carrying soven persons is to bo mado soon irom Chicago to New York. |
