Show BRYAN IN PARIS Leader of Democracy Honored in Capital Capi-tal of France. PARIS. Aug. 11. William J. Bryan, accompanied ac-companied by his wife and daughter, Col. Wctmore and Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap, arrived ar-rived here today for a four days' visit. A numbor of friends gathered at tho railroad rail-road station and gave the party a cordial cor-dial greeting. On reaching his hotel Mr. Bryan found a stack of mall, Including many invitations to dinners and sightseeing sight-seeing excursions. The party lunched at the Hotel Ritz as the guests of ex-Governor David R. Francis of St. Louis. Mr. Bryan did not wish to talk about his candidacy for the Presidency of tho United States, saying this had already been lengthily discussed and that he had nothing to add to his previous statements. state-ments. He was much interested In the social problems of France nnd the recent enactment of the workmen's pension law and the enforced weekly day of rest. "It appears," Mr. Brydn said, "to be part of the democratic development which I have observed to be going on all over the world. I noticed It In China, Japan and India. Everywhere one sees the same evidouce of popular awakening," This afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bryan visited vis-ited Notre Dame cathedral and drove along the Seine to the neighborhood of the Pantheon.
