Show HURT IN AUTO WRECK Machino Explodes and Four Are In- -- jured; Two May Die. CLEVELAND, O., Oct. 16. An automobile auto-mobile while running at a high rate of speed on Detroit aveuue, N. Y., struck a trolley pole at Kenilworth avenue in Lakewoocl, a suburb, early todnv and exploded. Ever' one of tho four occupants oc-cupants of the car was injured and two may die. The Injured are: Miss Anna Schmittel, burned about the arms and body, right arm fractured. Miss Hulda Ackerman, burned about legs and back, condition critical. Benjamin Camra, burned about head and hands. George TIartman, right eye gouged out, skull fractured, condition critical. The car was owned by M. T. Mandel-baum. Mandel-baum. the traction owner and banker. According to Camra, who was driving the machine, something went wrong with tho machinery. Tho car suddenly swerved from the' roadwaj and struck the trolley pole. The collision and explosion seemed to be simultaneoiis. The fifteen gallons of gasoline in the reservoir of the machine let go with a, roar and enveloped all four persons in flames. |
