Show DISCIPLES OF CHRIST A PROSPEROUS CHURCH i NORFOLK. Va.. Oct. 11. The In-I In-I ternational Missionary convention of I the Disciples of Christ opened here to-I to-I day with an attendance of several thousand thou-sand from all sections of the United States' and "many from Canada. Today , was devoted to the Christian Women s I Board of Missions. It was announced that, although the starting of the "Ceu- tennial-" movement at San Francisco 1 two vears ago only called tor a fund of $l'00.000 to be raised by 1909, nearly $200,000 has already been raised and , paid in. With this fund, the church I will open eleven new missiouarj-t missiouarj-t branches, including mission work iu the I Argentine and Mexico republics, Chinese Chi-nese mission work on the Pacific coast, I work in Utah, nnd a negro mission school in Texas. Topeka, Kan., and New Orleans are fighting for the next convention. |
