Three California prospectors found a ledge a few miles south of Alkali Springs, from which point tho Combination mine Is piping all tho water used In their new mill This new discovery has shown a vein fifty feet wide, carrying gold and silver, assays run up to $377 a ton. There has been a quiet, but systematic movi-ni' nt towaid tho development of new properties In the Montezuma district dis-trict for some time. The Western I'nlon has at last extended ex-tended Its wires Into Goldfield, and connection con-nection with Bullfrog is merely 3 matter mat-ter of a short time. A new mining company has Just been organized, known as the Hill Top Mining Company of Bullfrog Mining district, whit h win he of interest to Salt Lake City. Thls property consists of four claims and a fraction. These claims lie directly east of what Is known as the Gold Bar Mining company, better known In Its original location as the Benny Haseltlne group. The showings on tho ground of the Hill Top "are two large quartz veins, wi ll deflned, the formntlon being rhyollto rhyo-llto and porphyry Tho values taken therefrom average well with Others In the vicinity. This company Is making every preparation to put full crews of men to work at once. The developments up to date have beon merely upon the B'jrface, in the way of cuts and small shafts sunk on the various parts of the veins. The fdtuatlon and location of this property make It one with a very promising prom-ising future. The officers of the company com-pany are W. A. Stanton, prcsldont; W, J. Campion, vice-president , R. I,. Col-burn, Col-burn, secretary and treasurer; G. G. Rice and R. P Aylward making up the board of directors. The Goldfield Bank and Trust company has mover! Into their new quarters nt Hull and Yniln streets. The building has been completed, anil it Is a handsome Stone structure, that would graco any modern city. There are four or five other stone buildings being rapidly erected, some costing several thousand dollars. Each day brings somo big change In Goldflcld's appearanc e. One of the features of life In Goldfield l the two clubs organized some time ago by the Masons and Odd Fellows of the district These two clubs have homes of their own. In which the resident members and all sojourning members of each organization or-ganization meet to become better acquainted ac-quainted and enjoy tho reading-rooms prepared for their benefit. During the past winter commltteea took care of all sick Masons and i dd Fellows, providing comforts and necessities with a generous hand. Each clnl also has an employment bureau, which provided work when other means failed. A movement Is now on foot to build a Joint fraternal building In which the Knights of Pythias lodge will In all probability Join. Tho structure planned will be a two-story building, tho first floor being used for stores, and the second sec-ond floor for lodge purposes. Renewed activity Is In evidence by the Columhla Mountain Mining companv on th Columbia mountain A large number of men arc now at work. It is the intention to probe to the heart of the big hill In order i., ascertain the extent of tho rich findings that evldi-tv-ed themselves In the Original workings. Goldfield Is rapidly settling to a general working basis, the gr ut properties ore assuming a systematic mining aspect and nil Goldfield Is relolclng rind profiting by the new era. Mr. Mayne Of the Sandstorm property says that the lessees now working on the mine will have their lease extended to tho first of the year The original lease expires September 1 of this year, and the extension is welcome newe to those Interested and to Goldfield general! It Is said that the lessees will sink to a 00-foot eei on the Sandstorm and n . thought that lower levels will produce a higher grade of ore than that already found. Tn the latest report of Manager Pelrco of the Original Bullfrog mine, In tho Bullfrog district. It Is learned that In making crosscut number two at a distance dis-tance of forty feet Crom number one, they have passed through twelve feet of highly mineralized quartz, the lame being K'"d mill ore, which Indicates the ne.ir presence of one of the gldneye of rich ore which arc found In this mine. Ono ore sorter has been kept bus all week on ore that In the mine afsavs $900 per ton. The product of the week was $1300, with two men working on oro and twelve on development work Work has been started to crosscut south from the shaft on Indications that requlro It for exploiting work The development de-velopment now shows that the mine has a strong quartz contact vein between llmo and porphyry, tho greater body being be-ing fully fifty feet In thickness Tho development work on this mine la being pushed as rapidly as possible. President Mayfield Of the Dixie mine has telegraphed" from Louisiana, where he was called to tho bedside of his Rife, that It will be necessary to remove Mrs Mayfield to Xw Orleans for the purpose pur-pose of completing a cure.
