Show Safe Driving Teenage O E Scheduled May MaV I 11 1 District two of the Utah Junior Junior Junior Jun Jun- Chamber of Commerce is isi i sponsoring the 1957 Teenage o c to be held 1 May 1 11 1957 The local clubs club participating participating participating in this project are as ns follows Bountiful Farmington Layton S Sunset West Vest Point and Mor for gan With the combined efforts of the individual clubs this years cars Road o will be the most outstanding The Jaycee Safe Driving Teenage Road o is designed to to give young drivers the opportunity opportunity opportunity op op- to prove their ability t td Q drive safely rely improve their driving habits and attitudes and to stimulate community Interest interest in terest in high school driver education programs This gives the tha teenage driver a chance to demonstrate to themselves and td d their community that they are am in increasing their knowledge of traffic laws arid and improve their driving ability Beginning its it's sixth year car as a 3 National Junior Chamber of Commerce traffic safety program the Teenage o e has gained steadily in tc teenage nage participation All 48 states mates the Territory of Hawaii A Alaska laska and the District of C Columbia lumbia have seen the roada road- road c. c a-a a a in action It is now becoming becoming becoming becom becom- ing international All teenagers who can qualify qualify qualify qu qu- for lor a n learners learner's permit or license and rind who ha have c not turned 20 years of age ag until the day after August 15 1957 are eligible and encouraged encouraged encouraged en en- to participate in this safe driving program Contestants Con Con- need not be attending school but cannot be officially employed as a commercial vehicle vehicle vehicle ve ve- hicle driver This program is for far boys and girls who have nat not had a n moving traffic violation viola viola- ti tion n. n in the six months preceding ing August 1 1957 The program consists of two parts harts a common sense knowledge knowledge knowledge know know- ledge of the o the rules and a n driving skill test to demonstrate demonstrate demonstrate dem dem- the awareness of of responsibility responsibility re re- driving The teenagers o are arc in interested in- in in ig g in this program should i tact act their local Jaycee club for application tt tion n blanks and any information information orma- orma ti tion 1 they desire The entrants are me given their written tests by bythe bythe the local clubs Then on May i 11 1957 the entrants are escorted escorted es es- es to Hill Air Force base by the Jaycees where they perform the driving skills test Each club will have its it's first place winner In addition there I will be Ibe a grand prize for first second and third places for the District 11 winners The first place winner from each club will then compete in the State Stat of Utah finals also to be held at Hill Air Force base This will be held on June 1 1957 The state winner will vill then have an expense paid trip to Washington V D. D C.
