As comparod with tho previous six years this percontago shows a slight do-rreuso do-rreuso In tho numbor of pupils as compared com-pared with tho total population. The total cost of the public school system Is given as ?251,Ij7.C25. This 13 an Increase of SlC.0CO.000 over tho previous year. Slnco 1S70 tho proportion of malo teachers teach-ers has decreased from SO per cent of the entlro number to 20 per cent of the entlro r umber tho post year. The average compensation com-pensation for male teachers last year was J19.9S and SW.51 for females. This Is a slight Increase over the previous year.
