Show Park Elks and "Geig-er" at Provo. Special to Tho Tribune. PROVO. June 17. Tho Pnrk Clly "herd" consisting of about 3lxty members of Pari: City lodge, mado a quick run to Provo. Thoy were accompanied bv about twentv of their friends, Including Miss Eva Urn-bert Urn-bert and Miss Estclla Allgood. the ladles In waiting to the Queen of the Carnlvnl from Park City. They brought with them their old mascot mas-cot thc burro, who has been affcctlonatoly christened "Gcigcr." Considerable difficulty difficul-ty was experienced In getting Geigcr Into the baggago car. but onco inside. Gelger occupied the wholo of that car. He tried to put the conductor out of business when that official tried to take possession of part of the car. and was a disturbing element until ho was affectionately lifted out of his birth at Provo. He displayed such a degree of strcnuousness that Stato President Presi-dent C. M. VllHon was obliged to abandon all thought of his annual ride, and when Art Wectcr tried to attach a beautiful bow of purple and white ribbon to his tall Gelger wouldn't stand for It. But with the assistance of three stalwarfmombors he became a part of the parade, and attracted at-tracted tho usual amount of attention and applause. An Elk's convention without tho "Kangaroo "Kan-garoo court" would be a failure, and this convention Is no failure. A. R. Wectcr was one of thc llrst victims from Park City. He paid $2.50 for "leaving" his wlfo In American Fork." G. W. Gulliver paid $1 for wearing a Prince Albert coat on the Midway, Exalted Ruler Wight, when searched, was found to havo enough good cigars on his person to supply the court and all Its officers. He paid $1 for carrv-ing carrv-ing concealed weapons. C. A. Bloch'cr was caught In the act of winking at tho Circassian lady, and paid a fine of S1.50. Adam Peterson paid 50 ccents for resisting an officer. S. L. Ration broke jail and paid $2. The cthor members will bo looked up by the officers. Chaplain G. F. Cook won tho ?10O prizo for the 100-yard dash, winning by a "nose" from Adam Peterson, who was handicapped handi-capped by not having hla spiked shoes alone with him. |
