Show RA'CARTHY'S JAG LANDS HIM IN JAIL H. J. McCarthy went to the Holbein saloon on South State street, without an Invitation. As Mr. McCarthy was "in liquor," he received an invitation to make himself scarce, which invitation was backed up by material demonstration. demonstra-tion. McCarthy showed his dlspleasuro by proceeding to throw bricks and all other missiles he could lay his hands on over the fence that oeparatcs tho alley from a beer garden at the back of the saloon, and pome of these missiles found their nxarks. A sortie was made by all those who were In the beer garden, who proceeded to clean up the debris In the alley with McCarthy. Patrolman Pa-trolman Gulbranson appeared on the scene and gathered in McCarthy, who Is now staying- with Mr. Kimball. The police claim that they have in McCarthy a regular bad character, against whom they will probably lay a charge or vagrancy, 'to keep him out of harm's way for some time. |
