Show A YOUNG MAN PROMOTED. A worthy promotion of a deserving young man has come in the appointment appoint-ment of H. H. Hempstead to the position posi-tion of superintendent of the Utah division di-vision of the telephone system of the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone company, com-pany, this division including Utah and Idaho, und the position being second in authority only to that of the general superintendent. Mr. Hempstead, who is only 2S years old. is a young man to be entrusted with so responsible and important a position, and he has earned the recognition by real merit displayed in the successive stagey of promotion. He started with the company six yoars ago as a clerk In the general office, and his advancement has been steady and rapid, he having been manager of the Salt Lake City exchange for the last six months. In his new position he succeeds suc-ceeds H. O. Jackson, who retires from the service. Mr. Hempstead was born In Utah and lived all his life in Salt Lake. Business Notes. Stockholders of the Strevell-Palerson Hardwaro company held their annual meeting Thursday, which resulted in the election of the following as directors: direct-ors: C. N. Strevell, James H. PaterSon, W. S. McCorniclc. O. J. Salisburyk W. V. Rice, Newell Beeman and Georgo M. Scott. Following the stockholders' meeting the directors elected ns ofllcera: G. N. Strevell. president: James IT.
