Show LEAVES A SURPLUS. Monthly Statement of the Government's Govern-ment's Receipts and Expenditures Expendi-tures for December. Washington, Jan. 2. The monthly statement state-ment of the Government's receipts and expenditures shows that for the month of December, 1903, the total receipts were $42,747,592 and the expenditures $33,255,501, leaving, a surplus for tho month of $10,-401.7SS. $10,-401.7SS. The receipts for the six months of tho present fiscal year amounted to $217,837,172 and the expenditures to $2&3,-SfO,971, $2&3,-SfO,971, a decrease In receipts of nearly $11,000,000 from the corresponding period last vear and an increase In expenditures of slightly more than $5,WW,000. The receipts re-ceipts from the serveral sources of revenue reve-nue during December, 1903, aro given as follows: Customs, $19.$93,S$0; decrease, $3,750,000. Internal revenue, $20,227,155; decreaso, S570.0CO. Miscellaneous, $2,701,556; increase. $200,-CCO. $200,-CCO. The total oxpondltures during December decreased about $1,300,000 as compared with December, 1902. The expenditures on account of tho War department decreased during the month $3,500,000. and the Navy department Increased about $1,255,000. |
