Show AfTER WEN ARNEY Number of Witnesses Give Testimony SEVERAL GUAR DS ARE HEARD Tips Given Thor by Former Convict Con-vict Named ODonnell Then a Trusty Hie Name Figures Prominently Promi-nently In tho Investigation Made Up n LIst of Goods Which Ho Alleged Had Boon Carried A way Copies of This list Wore Taken TRIBUNE SPECIAL Boise Ida Sept 23At the opening of lime I Investigation of the o prison this morning Got Hunt made a Statement correcting what he claimed was an error er-ror In a published report of what he said yesterday concerning the investigation Investi-gation not bolng published He said he had stated It wan not public hut all reporter would be admitted Guard Mecham wan recalled and tes titled to the disappearance of a grindstone grind-stone that he understood went to Harvey Har-vey Arneys Guard J F Shel worth testified to tools being sent to tho ranch Men were also sent down there to work for Hnrry Arney Guard AV F Burns gave very Important Import-ant testimony He told of having seen a lot of goods from the harness shop loaded Into Harry Arncys buggy and driven away at night He had received a tip from ODonncll u trusty whose name figures In the Investigation prom mostly I was to the effect that Harry was coming to carry oft a lot of stuff He found rope a log chain f gum 1 coat a pulley block and some other articles In the buggy The witness further said that Warden Arney had recently called him and asked him about what he had heard He told the warden he had seen two loads driven away from tlie barn by Harr He also told the warden he had made a memorandum of what he had seen taken away S L Dlllard tho electrician had also been given a tip by Trusty ODonncll and had watched He saw lan drive off at night with a buggy load of goods C D Chinn was recalled He laid the responnlblllty for the escape of Harking upon Thomas Hunt the Governors Gov-ernors brother The latter had been In charge nt the time and he should not have left the ladder In the yard George McKinlcy a guard testified In a manner corroborative of the testimony tes-timony of other witnesses I appeared he had a copy o r list of goods which ODonnel had claimed had been carried car-ried off The Governor declined to admit ad-mit It In evidence but took possession of the documents Guard John through testified to having hav-ing seen a hog hauled away to the ranch There was corroborative testimony tes-timony by Guard NV M Parsons and i some of minor Importance by others This man Mike ODonnell was a trusty and drove for the warden He made up a list of goods which he claimed had been taken I Is very long ODonnell hung around sometime some-time after his release He then disappeared disap-peared J Is charged that the list was made up for him and that he was to be Induced to swear to It ODonnell talked with both sides telling qach that the other had offered him money or other Inducements Copies of his list were taken Now the prosccutln is Introducing Intro-ducing testimony to substantiate the exconvicts list aa to particular articles arti-cles and today it was brought out In the testimony above mentioned that ODonnell had given guards tips when goods were to betaken away The investigation in-vestigation Is I not yet concluded |
