One of the important pieces of news of the day Is that Senator Platt favors another fusion movement in New York City and the candidacy again of Seth Low for Mayor ll Is evident to Mr Platt that In a straight party fight the J I decent pecple of New York City would have no chance of success against the organized vice and crime of Tammany 3t is said by some impatient reformers that tho reform administration of Mayor May-or Low has not accomplished what was expected of It but It must be reraera I L bored that the dirty slough was very dirty and very deep as It began to be drawn off the smell arose mightily and the attempt woe made to charge the vllu odors to those who were doing the good work or drainage but thin failed It was not to he expected that so vast a work could be done In one term but that innrense progress has been made Is plain to every I one and Tammany will make the fight of Its life to win next fall Il will be but the most ordinary rule of selfprotection for the hcmest find patriotic elements of society to unite In defense of decency and honest public administration
