Senator M A Hanna who in the Presidential campaign of 1S9G was renounced by the yellow Journals asa as-a labor crusher but who guided the ship that brought In a tremendous success suc-cess for McKinley and Hobart and who In the campaign of 1000 added luster to that victory by achieving a still greater party success has Invented n plan which Is bringing capital and labor la-bor together and have been prosperous Senator Hannas plan is ono of direct dealing and the taking or employees Into the confidence of the employer kind and frank treatment consideration and justice between man and man Senator Hannas Civic Federation Fede-ration composed a few distinguished capitalists employers and a few rep esentatlVes of labor i has been In exIstence Istence but a few months yet it has settled seven strikes and averted sev ral others and prevented the Idleness Idle-ness of hundreds of thousands of men and the loss of many millions of dollars dol-lars Senator Hanna says that the employer is fair and kind to his employees em-ployees The Senator Is also In favor or labor unions as being conducive to better and more work and the highest type of social conditions among laborers labor-ers But he denounces socialism as inimical to society and industrial development elopment He believes as do most American citizens that Socllastlo Ideas are impractical and unnatural and tend to lower ever knew of his attitude toward labor With him it Is a principle not a a necessity He has helped his men and asslsted alstec organized or-ganized labor when there was no call for It and when at times it operated cal agalriBt hie Interests financially Interests fnanclal That Is the secret reason why he never had strike anti never lost a friend from amongst his employees Senator Hanna Han-na would rather bo the mediator between be-tween capital and labor l and establish I lines of adjustment which would Inure cure harmony and peace and prosperity pros-perity to worklngmcn and cooperation coopera-tion between employer and employee than be King or Emperor or Prcoldent of the United States for life And grateful for and appreciative of the generous compliments of his friends ho evidently does not Intond as he has announced frequently oC hate to permit any disturbance of his patrol Ic work by any misinterpretations which may be made of his motives by political opponents or tho expres
