Show DOWN AROUND MILFOBD Splendid Work at Majestic Smelter Estella Mine and Cyanide Plant The Mllford Times says At 930 Thursday morning the Majestic smelter had been in operation just seven days and during that time had turned out six cars of matte For the first few days the furnace was not operated at near Its full capacity so it Is apparent that a oar of matte can he produced dally without dlfilculty The shortage of sulphides still causes more or less trouble but Mr Klnnon has been able thus far to produce an excellent grade of matte The slaB losses he states have been phenomenally low being twotenths of 1 per cent copper two tenths of announce silver and no cold which is regarded as remarkable under the metallurgical conditions existing The smeller is now making a hole In the accumulated stock of ores and shipments ship-ments from the mines are being In creased The Old Hickory ore bins have 1 been completed and the ore Is I now dumped directly into the cars and dumped from the cars Into the bins at Ihe smelter eliminating entirely the cost of shoveling It Is staled butt the Old Hickory is now able to send down 200 tons of ore daily It Is quite likely that the Estella nilnc will be equipped with a cyanide plant In the near future As aver Killam Is now stationed at the mine making tests upon up-on the ores The results arc said to be quite satisfactory and it is undcrsloot I lhat the directors now have the subject under consideration There arc now 5000 tons of ore blocked out that will yield from Sf to 10 per ton In gold ama am-a little silver The gold is very fine and the ore carries no other metal except Iron and Is therefore particular adapted to the cyanide process Ai abundant water supply can be securec by placing the plant on the edge of the valley just below the mine |
