Show MRS GORMAN AND HER LACE Several Women High in Local Society Are Wondering How They Bought So Cheap A woman giving the name of Mrs Gorman and representing herself to bean be-an English woman In need of help has recently been calling upon the wellto do ladles of the city and offering for sale a variety of what she claimed to be real lace Mrs Gorman socalled said that she carne to this country with Lady Aberdeen and had an exhibit of her laces at the Worlds fair In presenting pre-senting herself at the various homes Mrs Gorman has been wont to refer to some of the other vqllknown ladies of the city saying that she had Just sold them some of her laces She also represented herself as being a teacher at St Marys academy The suspicions of one of her patrons were yesterday aroused however so while she made a few purchases one of the daughters of the house called upS up-S etCl1 of the ladles whose names had been given by the dealer in lace and not one of them had ever heard of her neither had they purchased any of her wares The young lady still further invcstlgatacd the subject and found that Mrs Gorman was not a teacher at St Marys academy nor connected with it in any capacity In speaking of the affair to a reporter the young lady frankly admitted that she was not able to say whether or not the lace purchased pur-chased by her mother was Imitation but on account cif I the ridiculously low price at which 1L was offered coupled with the conflicting stories told by the woman declared that she believed 1 a number of Salt Lake women arc being duped by this same seller of lace and therefore should be warned |
