Show i ELKS ATTEND SERVICE I THEY GO TO ST PAULS CRURCE IN A BODY J Tho Visit was Complimentary to the Chaplain of tho Order Rev Ellis BishopAn Appropriate Sermon cSt c-St Pauls church was crowded to overflowing last evening i In addition to the regular congregation some forty or fifty Elks attended In a body as a compliment to Rev Ellis Bishop chap hUn of tho order The services Mero conducted by Mr Bishop and Mr Scott and the music was quite a feature Mr I Bishop when making the church announcements an-nouncements < < took the opportunity of welcoming the Elks and hophrg they I Mould come often His sermon was a splendid one quite appropriately upon the eompanioiiKhlp of man He took for his text St John xvll2i Father I will that they also whom thou hast given me be with me where I am Also the Acts xxvl29 And Paul said I would to Go that not only thou but also all that hear me this day were both almost and altogether such as tam T-am except these bonds He showed how companionship was followed by tho birds and animals and that It Mas the true instinct of mans nature The companionship of the lower animals was but the physical while mans companionship com-panionship should be of the divine order or-der as man was created In the Image of God and in seeking companions man should aim for purity honesty and steadfastness and those things that go to make the perfect Christian And litho I li-tho Christian can say that his companions com-panions are the same ns he Is then his companions are like Christ and that lathe la-the standard The main thought brought out in the I discourse was selfperfection and In sequence the perfection of ones associates I asso-ciates At the close of the services Mr I Bishop and Mr Scott greeted the Elks most cordially as they passed out oC tha main entrance I S I |
