| Show SCHOOL MEETINGS HELD EXPRESSIONS AT THE HAMILTON HAMIL-TON AND UNION Patrons Take Action in Favor of the Passage of the Bill to Increase Taxation Tax-ation for School Purposes At the monthly mothers meeting held Yesterday afternoon In the Hamilton school the school situation was brought up and sentIment was unanimous for continuance of the schools through tho regular term A resolution was passed Stating that In view of the fact that the school year would be cut short Jf some provision was not made to keep the schools open the Legislature would Voice the will of the people In passing the Wells bill Mrs II T Cannon Mrs W W Wlscomb and Mrs W Godbo were appointed n committee to present the resolution tb the Legislature The remainder ot the afternoon was occupied with a very instructive paper from Mrs F R Elliott Instructor of drawing on Art in the Schools and a talk by Prof Mutch of Washington who explained the cerebral growth In the child and with what foods the child Is best nourished hero was n wellattended meeting nt the Union school where action fa vorablo to the continuance of the Schools through the regular season was taken Principal Wallace presided and Mr Newman of the Board of Education Educa-tion outlined existing conditions and called attention to the fact that while some people imagined that the teacherb were being paid too much they really were not It should be borne In mind that the teacher can work but nine ihonths in the year B S Young spoke in the same vein The meeting passed i a resolution that the district back up the school bard so that the schools niay be kept open for the full term and that If taxation Could not be resorted re-sorted to bonding would do and If not that the people of the district would subscribe A F Barnes Mrs D H White and Mrs Gundry were appointed committeeto wait on the Legislature |
