Show I COLSON IS ACQUITTED Kentuckian Who Killed Two Men is Found Not Guilty Frankfort Ky April 21 ExCon gressman David C Colson who has lieen on trial here for the last four days for the murder of Lieut Scott and Luther Uemarce was acquitted by the verdict of the jury which was re turned this evening The Jury was out only eighteen minutes The crowd of spectators hud remained in the courtroom walting for a report from the juryrpom There was a silence as tho Jury filed Into the room but there was no demonstration until Circuit Clerk Ford finished reading the ver diet which read We the Jury find the defendant not guilty 1 j As the lust words were read the crowd arose and sent up a wild cheer Col Colson the defendant was stand ing near the witness chair The crowd took no notice of the court ofllcers who pounded vigorously but piled over the railings surrounding Colson and ItiHlHt rd on shaking hands with him They gave an ovation to the Jury and Col James Andrews Scott Cohions chief rlpunscl The cheering kept up until I Colson left the courtroom and as he did so It WItS taken up by the Beck ham soldiers In front of the courthouse to whom the Colonel gracefully re turned a salute Tonight he is rccciv lug dozens of telegrams from all over Kentucky and from other States con gratulating him on his acquittal |
