BISHOP LEONARD RETURNS SPENT FOUR MONTHS PROFITS ABLY IN EAST S 5 He Was Much Interested in the Work of the Episcopal Church Among the Lowly in New York City Bishop Leonard returned agiei day in excellent health oxer the Rjo Grande Western from the East whore ho has been absent for the Izst l four months The bishop stated that ho had not enjoyed en-joyed a vacation for several years and had taken a rest as well as interested himself in the mission work of the chnrch Bishop Leonard visited the principal cities of the north Atlantic seaboard arid while In New York gave particular attention to Ito work of the Episcopal church In tho slums particularly particu-larly the Red Light district of which Stanton street and the Five Points arc centers The bishop says there Is 1 a wonderful work being done thcje in the reclamation of the fallen young people from the best families In the city being engaged In that work J Plerpont Morgan Mor-gan has given the parish of St Georges church a building valued at 250000 for nso In lie work among the lowly and under the enthusiastic guidance of Bishop Potter the Episcopal city missions mis-sions are accomplishing a great deal Bishop Leonard took hold with the young missionaries and entered zealously zeal-ously into their work When asked if he proposed Introducing features of this phase of Christian effort here ho said ho could not ag yet say but thought something might be done later on The bishop said he had not given any attention atten-tion to the change to be made at St Pauls church as he had had no time to consider the niatter but a good man uould be secured The bishop made many addresses while away in behalf of the mlssloriary work of the church Ho visited with his brothers family in St Louis on the way homo Last Sunday Sun-day he spent In Denver IIo had no changes in the diocese lo note and referred S re-ferred lo the ork here as on a well established fgundallon
