Show ROBERT BELL OF IDAHO I I He Speaks of Utah Investments In I His State The Mines S Robert Boll Republican nominee for Inspector of Mines in Idaho and as conversant with the diggings of that i commonwealth as with his alphabet came down from the north yesterday and with his engagements here disposed dis-posed of leaves for home again tonight Of Utahs Investments in Idaho Mr Bell says they are all thriving and those that are not earning bread money arc developing to that end Of the acquisition made by the Franklin syndicate In Black Bird district the gentleman who was one of the founders found-ers of the camp says he regards them ns good as any ever made up there j Indeed samples of copper ore from the property that showed a percentage I of 50 in the red metal with 20 in Kohl was awarded first pilze On all the territory the Blade Bird company Is doing very extensive work In time Brown Bear group It is crosscutting from the 300foot level to the vein which Is 1GO foot wide On the Uncle Sam claim of the St Joe company which was purchased of W R Hull and others of Salt Lake a new hoist Is l being erected In this ground Mr Bell reports 10000 tons of ore blocked out that will average 20 per cent copper cop-per with 10 gold per ton Another hoist Is being Installed on the Katharine I Katha-rine In which at fifty feet ten feet of oreis exposed that affords an average of C per cent copper and S10 gold All this development work is preliminary to the building of reduction works next season and it Is not unlikely that a railway will be constructed to the I mines The Red Bird of Lemhi county coun-ty which was acquired by the same syndicate during the year Is a free milling proposition with an enormous body of goldshearing ore for the treatment treat-ment of which a mill will bo erected next spring and Mr Bell relies on it for enormous earnings In Custcr county the Lucky Boy of which Henry A McCornick is the manager man-ager Is making a remarkable record at mine and mill through which latter eighty tons dally are being put the coat of milling having been reduced to 225 per ton which Includes amalgamation concentration and cyanldatlon In the I same county the Clayton Mining and Smelting company Is making an excellent ex-cellent record as Is also the White Knob on Lost river which is showing an enormous volume of copper ore and for the treatment of which a smelter has been erected Dredging operations in Stanley basin and at McNutt In Lemhi county have been prosecuted with much success and the season throughout has been a vorv gratifying one A large circle of acquaintances In this city hope to see Mr Bell elected Mine Inspector of the State for which lie has labored hard and intelligently With an experience of twentylive years and a thorough knowledge of theoretical and practical mining he should render most valuable service In the position |
