tatting place In what Is Known as Electric tunnel tun-nel that promise results equaling should they not surpass any that have been made in the empire of goldbear ing Ground at Mercur Electric tunnel upon which the trolley cars will soon bo in motion was conceived for the purpose of establishing the most economical eco-nomical connection possible between the ore bodies of Mercur ground proper and the mill and to that end the avenue has been driven steadily into the hill At a distance of 150 feet from the tunnels tun-nels mouth the management recently broke into a body of perfectly oxidized ore at a point about 100 feet from the maIm ovebearing channel and into this the tunnel had pone as far aa fifteen feet when Manager Cohen Inspected it on Tuusday A careful sampling of the body lX r that distance afforded results ranging from 350 to 7 per ton while the breast is liberally sprinkled with cinnabar which has Invariably characterized charac-terized the ores of higher grade in thereat the-reat gold camp To Manager Cohen the new discovery appears to be In a zone entirely Independent of that from which tho original Mercur company has mined ores of the value of over 3200 COO and developments along it are being followed with keenest interest 2Tew Gold Dust Refinery Contracts for material In the construction con-struction of the new gold refinery to lie erected at this point by equipped and capable of reducing re-ducing 200 pounds of gold dust to gold bullion dally will Involve a cost of about 10000 said Glen R Bothwell manager for the company and with this expenditure facilities will be had for handling the dust of all customers who have been sending their product to this market At Just what point the refinery will be established Is not definitely decided de-cided but all conditions favor the banks of the Jordan river In the west part of town The work of construction construc-tion will be under the Immediate supervision super-vision of Leo Gllson formerly of the refinery operated by the Consolidated Mercur gold mines and no time will JJD lost by him In Us completion f Tlio Great Btomestake Hon O J Salisbury who is back In town after an inspection of his banking and mining Interests at Deadwood and Lead City S D reports CIO stamps now dropping at the great Homestake mine which was last year productive of over 51000000 in gold and which continues to assert its rank as the biggest gold producer in the country Of the dividend divi-dend checks that are distributed monthly month-ly by the company not a few arc now coming to this city the larger ones of course going to Mrs Gllmcr Mr Salisbury Salis-bury and Capt Richard Millet who served the Homestake for years as Its superintendent whiles not a few are the holders of lots of fifty and 100 shares Since January last the company has paid 015000 with a total of more than 59000000 to date and yet the management manage-ment is putting out over 100000 tons of ore per month Mr Salisbury returns in excellent health and prepared to devote all his energies to Republican success in this commonwealth Tho Bonanza UTlat Enterprise Efforts are again being made to get the various interests In Bonanza Flat at Park City together that plans for the opening up of the ground and the development of its riches during the winter may be crystallized The owners of the group include the Anchor Mining company which controls a quarter Mrs Judge who has a corresponding interest and John J Daly who holds the remaining half Mr Daly who was Interviewed concerning the fulure of the ground yesterday said there was nothing definite to report at this time although he has by no means aban cloned his efforts to get it under development devel-opment He does not regard It as a wet undertaking as some have Intimated Inti-mated and while some water will bo encountered it can be easily controlled Bert Holden in from the East Bert Holden managing director of the Centennial Eureka and United States Mining companies came In from the East yesterday morning accom panied by Mrs Holden and will leave this morning for Blngham where he will Inspect the properties of the latter company after which he will proceed to Eureka Of the projected plants by which the handling of the ores of the two companies is to be simplified Mr Holdeu pleated last night that he could say but little at tills time although the assurance was given out that reduction works will be provided with active construction to begin as soon as certain details are disposed of There Is now scarcely a doubt but that the plant for tIme treatment of a large amount of tho united States companys ores will con sist of a concentrator of enormous ca pacity as in the form of a concentrate it can be more profitably handled whether it shall go to an Independent smelter to be erected by the company or to the furnaces of the American Smelting and Refining company Mr Holden says that he can say nothing just at thin time concerning preparations that are to be made for the reduction of Centennial Eureka ores when Us 4000000 contract with time American Smelting and Refining company shall have been discharged but that the company has made up its mind to provide for the handling of the milling ores in a plant adapted to them upon the ground and to that end has begun the creation of a fund He is much pleased with the behavior of both properties underground and has to remain indefinitely coma Highland Boy Shipment The HIghlaud Boy company vester day forwarded another consignment of copper gold and sliver bullion to East em ni
