Show OFFAL COUNT BEGUN BEGUNI I Commissioners Canvassing I the County Returns SIX DISTRICTS COMPLETED Tho Canvassing Board Mot at Noon I Yesterday but Was Delayed by Absence of Blanks Began at First II District and Had Completed Sixth nt AdjournmentHines Gained Fortynine Votes in Fifth District Over Count ns First Given Morso Loses Eleven Other Changes I The official canvass of the election leclon returns for Salt Lake county was begun be-gun by the County Commissioners at noon yesterday Some little delay was caused by 1 the failure to receive the blanks on time and at o oclock when adjournment was taken only six districts dis-tricts had been canvassed Those engaged in the count arc Commissioners Com-missioners Woolley Whltakcr and Home County Clerk Dunbar Deputy Clerk L C Johnson and Judge John W Street the last named being the representative of the Republican county coun-ty committee 1 The vote canvassed was In districts 1 one to six both Inclusive As compared with the figures as returned re-turned to The Tribune by the judges of election and printed in Thursday mornings Issue but few errors were found In district No2 N T Porter has 232 votes inslead of 231 as repprtcd In the same district ILN Standish has 107 Instead of 196 and J li Anderson 19C Instead of 1U7 In the Third district an error er-ror gave J W N Whllccotton 157 votes Instead of 173 which was cast for him and Morse has 203 Instead oC 214 the number at first credited to him j An error was discovered in L M Earls vote the number being 11 Instead of ISC Ben R Eldredges vote was reduced re-duced one the correct number being 202 instead of 20l while Lloyd went down from 191 to 193 In the Fifth district Wells polled 2G votes Instead of 25H HInes 252 instead In-stead of 203 Harris 212 Instead of 259 and Hammond 253 instead of 242 tho figures originally having been reversed In No 6 Breeden secured 249 votes instead of 119 as reported In the Fifth district there were eight challenged votes sworn in and in the Sixth in two challenged vptes were sworn t Tho gains and losses in the six districts dis-tricts were a follows N T Porter loses 2 votes in the second sec-ond ant H N Standish and Jam p II Anderson lose 1 each In the Third district J W N White cotton gains IS Morse loses 11 Earl gains C Eldredge loses 1 and Lloyd loses 1 In the Fifth Wells gains 10 Harris loses 17 Hammond gains 17 and Hines gains 19 In tho Sixth Breeden gains 100 1 The canvass will be resumed at 2 oclock this afternoon The Commissioners expect to conclude con-clude the work this week Beginning ut 2 oclock this afternoon they will VOle from 2 to r and from S to 12 L midnight Two and onehalf hours waD consumed yesterday afternoon In canvassing I can-vassing six districts At this rate It would require over thirtysix hours I of actual work to complete the entire count and If they put In seven hours night per day they should finish Saturday |
