Show OLIVERS TENT MEETINGS Dr fluffs Views of the Proposed I Work of the Evangelist Dr T C hid last evening In rc I sppiise to a question relative to the series of meetings to be held here In a tent by Evangelist Oliver said I want to preface by slating that there are methods employed In Christian work by the Salvation Army and others independent of the evangelical churches that I could not adopt Neither can I oppose these methods for those who employ them perform cssentlal work and benefit a class of people that tIc churches do not reach I believe In the broadest charity within the bounds of truth both In matters of faith and polity concerning all Christian work As to your question I know but little about the proposed Oliver tent meet Jugs I understand that the movement Is independent of any of our Methodist Episcopal churches I believe all our ministers have so expressed themselves to me That Mr Oliver has a legal right to hold meetings in Salt Lake if he has permission from the proper authorities au-thorities I do not question and that there is need for earnest Christian work in our city must be apparent If such meetings are held by Mr Oliver and those who see proper 10 cooperate with him I sincerely hope that great good shall come to the community thereby |
