Show JUDGE BARTCH RETURNS IIJXINLEY AND ROOSEVELT ARE SURE WINNERS I Administration Strongly Indorsedin the East Trade Vffry Good and Prosperity Seen on Every Hand Chief Justice Burtch was back In his chambers In tho Supreme court yestcr day after an absence of three weeks in the East He Went direct from hereto here-to Philadelphia where his daughter Miss Minnie A Bartch1 was attending tho rest Walnut street seminary and who renamed home with him Tile Judge spent some time at Washington and made several friendly calls on President MCKInley and attended to private business matters In the Department Depart-ment of the Intcrtor He was In Philadelphia Phila-delphia during the Republican national convention and was very much struck with the enthusiasm and unanimity for tho nominees both in the convention conven-tion and among the general public I McKinley and Roosevelt he considers beyond doubt will be the winners The policy of the present Administration he says Is strongly Indorsed by a great majority of the people whom he camo in contact with and Roosevelt he thinks adds strength to thc ticket A feature of the convention was the repeated re-peated ovations given exSenator Quay The silver Question he soys Is dead In the TCnst and many Democrats are strongly against free coinage The general sentiment at the capital and elsewhere toward this Stale is very friendly and the Judge thinks success of the Republican party here would be for the best Interest of tho State as such would give capitalists Increased confidence and load to large investments J 1 invest-ments in the various enterprises which go to its upbuilding I Trade everywhere Is very good Tho I factories are all busy and there are no complaints of Idle men Prosperity Is general all over the country The crops too are good with the possible exception excep-tion of Indiana l where wheat Is rather poor Judge Bartch met many old friends during his trip and had a Very pleasant time Alternate Clark Arrives W II Clark one of the alternates to the Philadelphia convention arid holder hold-er of the proxy of Lindsay R Rogers as national Oommlttecman has returned J Ito I-to tho city after what he reports as a most enjoyable trip Mr Clark says I there is a strung Republican sentiment t I throughout the parts of the East he I visited and that the Republican ticket will be triumphantly elected he does not doubt There he says some little lit-tle antiexpansion talk but the silver Issue seems for the present to be out oC j I the running In Nebraska where Mr Clark visited on his return Journey he I says tho enthusiasm for McKinley and Roosevelt is verv marked The idea of I rough rider clubs has proved very popular pop-ular and clubs are being formed allover all-over tho State one town of 1500 inhabi I tants boasting a club of 300 members |
