Show CALIFORNIA DROWNS Loses His Life by the Upsetting of Stage While Crossing Stream I Santa Barbara Cal Nov 21By the upsetting of a coast line stage In Los Pueblos creek today S W Parker of Ventura was drowned and four other i persons narrowly escaped a similar I fate Ttx stage which runs between t his place and Lompoc while crossing j the creek eighteen miles from here was caught In the current One of the i horses lost Its footing and the stage J was overturned and carried downstream down-stream The driver and his five passengers pas-sengers were thrown Into the creek which was a raging torrent All succeeded suc-ceeded In reaching time shore with the exception of Mr Parker who was cither struck by the struggling horses or heavy drift wood Thu two lead horses became entangled in the harness har-ness and were drowned Time wheel horses scrambled to the bank Superintendent Cox of the stage company who was one of the passengers passen-gers was carried 300 yards down the stream and wiicn rescued waa revived with difficulty The passengers were taken to the homes of people residing near by and cared for during the night Parkers body has not been recovered |
