I TO BE REGRETTED I f We are very sorry that the Hon Fisher Harris finally succeeded In advertising ad-vertising the fact that he seems to have no conception of the difference between mob outrage and a government of law that he was Abound to advertise that when it comes to a question of what to do wlhn wild beast In the form ofn i negro he wants the civilization of t L thousands of years set aside and a community converted into a community I communi-ty of wild beasts to avenge C wrong Wo are Kfirrv I to sec tho Hon Fisher II c Harris advertise that when the Governor i Gov-ernor of Colorado failed to carry out the oath that he had taken and that when a Colorado Sheriff deliberately violated i his oath they both did right and that courts of Justice and officers of the law are not expected to perform their duties except In mild cases But when a community is justified In giving lessons In barbarity to Chinese Chi-nese Boxers how long before each Individual Indi-vidual will become a judge of what men to kill and what to permit to go I freeMr Harris dwells upon the sufferings of the victims of the wild beast but that docs not happen to be the point It Is a question of civilization and what I society should do Thc law points out the way When a min or a company of men decide to put the law aside and be a law unto themselves them-selves l where are they to stop I We arc sorry that Mr Harris Insists upon giving the fact away that he has contempt for law l and for the rules which distinguish civilized from savage men and that in his judgment the mob are the anl best Judges how justice in thls country shall be administered In extreme cases
