| Show AMUSEMENTS Daniel l Sully opened his two nights engagement at the Theater laat evening even-ing with a fairsized audience In attendance at-tendance the lower portion of the house being well filled and the galleries fairly patronized The first and foremost fore-most distinguishing feature of The Parish Priest ng a stage production lies In Its Individuality of style and originality of action The simple story of the play Is otrengthencd and grows in Interest through the restful and easy manner of Its portrayal Unpretentious In plot and action yet fasplnatlng and quieting in Its interpretation It la hc yond the ordinary TIlt play Is the more enjoyable because It i goes without I the accompaniment of melodramatic situations to excite applause the one approach In the whole piece to this style4Qf urouMug enthusiasm where brother strangles and strikes brother to < the groundcould be omitted without with-out taking away from the Interest of the play The audience last evening thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the general vote was that It furnished fur-nished a most pleasing evenings entertainment enter-tainment The play occupies a position between the frothy giddy and light pieces and the heavy oppressing creations crea-tions of the stage and consequently has a sphere of Us own Mr Sully Is happily cast as the priest being almost perfectly fitted to the de rnamls of the role Ills voice build reading of hInes and action all combined com-bined to make the portrayal of the father most enjoyable Close to Mr Sullys characterization came the study of Michael by Mr Griffin This part was po well given that Its creator when on the atngc with Mr Sully divided honors about even with the star tylsa Spinney In the iiutof Agnes gavo an artistic bit of acting Her enunciation was pleasing and stage development good Mildred Lawrence made a distinct dis-tinct part aa the visitor from Ireland and with the assistance of Joseph L Tracy brought out one of the best scenes of the evening Al Phillips played leads to Mr Sully and Miss Kenoteau had the part of the heroine Both pave good Interpretations The play will be repealed this evening |
