MILLION FOR EDUCATION Armour Institute to Receive an Addition Ad-dition to Its Endowment Chicago April 10 Armour Institute In this city which owes Its existence I to the late Philip D Armoqr will tomorrow to-morrow receive an addition to Its qn dowment of 1000000 the money coming com-ing from Mrs P D Armour and J Ogden Armour the widow and son oC Its founder The announcement of the proposed gift was a surprise even to the ofll dais of the Institution It Is expected that the money will be used to extend the scope of the institution in electrical electri-cal and chemical engineering The Institute In-stitute Is now In a very prosperous condition having an endowment of 2500000 all of which was given by the late air Armour It Js understood that J OgdeiuAr mour Is to make the institutetho greatest of its character In mechanical engineering In the world The money will not however be devoted to that branch alone The civil engineering course particularly will he augmented
