Show WD6E rIf t u I D < j a u l i t 3j 1 Clerk Diehl accompanied by Turk the noted newspaper dog but who hag shown of late much to the regret of the profession a tendency to mix up with policemen and lawyers entered I the courtroom promptly on time and Judge Tlmmony followed a few sec onds later a The one big event of the day was the trial of Will McDonald and John McDonald who were charged with having assaulted and battered wih balered Charles Meyers Both defendants en tered vigorous pleas of not guilty Movers testified that the defendants had met him between the AVasatka Springs and the Warm Springs and had jumped all over him so to speak and in addition to that had pelted him with rocks and otherwise made life a burden for him He had no Idea why he had been thus attacked The defendants however testified that the testOed complainant had very badly abused John McDonald a short time before and that when ho had been tmo covered upon the horizon they had gone out to get even Neither de nied that the complainant had been attacked The Judge was of the opinion that probably the defendants had been guilty technically of assault and bat tery but was not slow in stating that Sin did no more than he might have dono under similar circumstances nnd therefore Imposed a nominal fine OJL 1 each Q o b Several forfeitures were made for minor offenses Klmball woke up and the docket ended |
