Show BACK IN NEBRASKA Makes Speech in Beatrice in tho Afternoon Af-ternoon Beatrice Neb Aug 2iMr Bryan returned to his own Slate today reaching reach-ing tic State line late In the afternoon andarrlvlng at Beatrice a few minutes past S oclock He had jjji deiayed for two hours en route and he drove direct from the train to the meeting that he was to address He had been met at Marys ville by a committee of representative citizens Including Hon R S Bibb who was the Gold Democratic candidate candi-date for Governor In 1S9C He Is now supporting Mr Bryan for the Presidency I Presi-dency because of the lattcrs position on the subject of expansion and he presided pre-sided over the meeting tonight I There was 1 large crowd at the station sta-tion When Mr Bryan arrived The speaking took place from a high stand c on a vacant lot In the center of the I city t The attendance was large and I I I Mr Bryan was received with a fine 1 burst of applause when he mounted the I stand There were also frequent Interruptions I Inter-ruptions on the part of Mr Bryans i I of the admirers during the delivery I speech Mr Bryan has already made I two speeches of rather more than the I ordinary length for him during the day but he did not appear fatigued andj I suoke with his wonted vigor J The address waS a review of the general I gen-eral issues of the campaign More lhan usual attention was given to the legislation legis-lation concerning Porto Rico He used I this as an Illustration of what the Republican I Re-publican party would do in other coun i tries if the opportunity should offer l I This legislation he regarded as a specimen spec-imen of Imperialism and < good illustration illus-tration of what could be expected of a tmton Republican Congress Mr Bryan will leave Beatrice tomorrow tomor-row morning for Lincoln and in the morlnS I afternopn will go to Omaha where ho will speak at night I |
