Show Graphic Arts Institute Opens on Friday The Graphic Arts Technical Institute in connection with Printing Week in Utah will be conducted in Salt Lake City on Friday, January 19, and Saturday, Satur-day, January 20. Events will begin be-gin at 4 p m. Friday afternoon with an open house and buffet at Deseret News Press featuring their new web offset press. Registration Regis-tration at "convention headquarters," headquar-ters," the Prudential Plaza auditorium audi-torium at 33rd South and State Streets, will get underway at 5 pm. The first general session will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Plaza Keynote speaker will be Dr. Carlton Culmsee, Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences, Sci-ences, Utah State University, Logan. His address will feature the Printing Week in Utah theme: "Printing: Key to the Storehouse of Knowledge." On Saturday, registration will continue from 8 until 9 a.m. at the Plaza, with two major gen eral sessions planned for morn ;ng meetings. The first session. "How to Make a Profit," will feature discussion by experts in the fields of production control and scheduling, machine accounting, ac-counting, Porte price lists and management practices. The other morning session will be on Graphic Arts Processes, including includ-ing such topics as wrap-around, silk screen, copy preparation, zerography, hot metal and cold type. The material will be valuable valu-able to everyone in the industry. The noon luncheon will honor the scholarship winner of the Printing Week essay contest. The annual Printing Week Banquet will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and will feature Oliver R. Sperry, President of The Printing Industry of America. |
