Show Cal Ramp ton Charges Sen. Bennett Alters Attacks on Kennedy Calvin L; Rampton, Democratic Demo-cratic candidate for United States Senator, Wednesday evening eve-ning charged that the Gallup Poll indicating the popularity of the Kennedy Administration has changed the method of campaigning cam-paigning of Senator Wallace F. Bennett (R-Utah). Speaking at Ogden, Mr. Rampton Ramp-ton stated, "During all of last summer Sen. Bennett carried on a running attack on the Kennedy Ken-nedy Administration. Then in September the Gallu Poll indicated indi-cated that 74 per cent of the American people approved the way the President was handling the job. Immediately the severity of the Senator's attacks were lessened. "In November a further Gallup Poll showed President Kennedy's popularity still increasing and the Senator became even more moderate in his approach. Just last week Sen. Bennett praised President Kennedy on his South American trip," Mr. Rampton continued. "It would be gratifying if Sen. Bennett's conversion to the Kennedy program were real, however, it is difficult to forget his bitter attacks of last summer and the record still shows that Senator Bennett and Senator Goldwater were among the most consistent opponents of the administration ad-ministration program in the last session of Congress," the candidate candi-date concluded. |
