Show Farmers Union Chief Will Visit India ill lll DOUGLAS T. SIMPSON , Douglas T. Simpson of Kamas, president of the Utah Farmers Union, will visit India in farmer-to-farmer exchange project sponsored spon-sored by Farmers and World Affairs, Af-fairs, Inc., of Philadelphia, Pa. Farmers and World Affairs, Inc. work very closely with all major farm organizations in the U. S. and other countries. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson will fly to Washington, D.C., and be there four days for a briefing session. They will leave New York by air at the end of the month and will spend two months getting acquainted ac-quainted with the problems of farmers in India. Of the six couples going from the U.S., the Simpsons will be the only ones from the western states. Before leaving India an interview inter-view has been arranged with the India Department of Agriculture and with Prime Minister Nehru of India. , On arrival back in the U.S., the group will report to Congress on their findings. "The information informa-tion and insights gained through this program will be shared with American farmers after the visit with the aim of creating good will and understanding . between farmers of the two lands," Mr. Simpson commented. The Simpsons expect to arrive back in Salt Lake City Feb. 17, which will be the opening day of the eighth annual convention of the Utah Farmers Union. |
