Show Bill Would Permit State to Acquire Lands for Parks Rep. David S. King (D-Utah) Wednesday introduced a joint resolution which would enable Utah to obtain federal lands for two parks without a' sacrifice in its acreage quota for this year. The House Interior committee staff and the Interior department helped him draft the resolution, which would serve, he said, to , emphasize that Utah should have received the park lands last year. Utah applied for the lands for , Dixie State Park and a small park on the Bear Lake last year when the Congress' boosted the annual acreage limitation for parks from 640 to 6,400 acres, but the year expired before title to the lands could be cleared, Mr. King said. "This resolution would keep these 1959 applications out of the 1960 quota, which the state proposes to use for other new park acquisitions," he said. |
