Show Commissioners of Fish and Game Plan S. L. Meeting Dates and plans have now been set forthe 40th annual convention conven-tion of the Western Association of Game and Fish Commissioners according to Harold S. Crane, director of Utah's Department of Fish and Game. Mr. Crane is president and Utah the host for the Association conference in 1960. Convention dates will be June 20-22, with meetings and headquarters head-quarters scheduled for the Motel Utah in Salt Lake City. Crane said an expected 600 delegates will meet each morning of the three days in general session while the afternoon period each day will be devoted to technical meetings covering the fish and game management fields. Plans for the convention were recently finalized when commission members, mem-bers, department staff, and the Western Association secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, Ben Gladding from California met with the director in department of fish and game headquarters. Commissioners, directors, and management personnel will be in attendance at the convention from the 13 western states and two provinces of Canada. Members Mem-bers will also attend from all the major, resource management agencies and from organized sportsmen groups in this conference confer-ence long considered of vital importance to future management manage-ment of the west's fish and game resources. Theme chosen for the meeting is "Wildlife for the Future Whose Responsibility?" according accord-ing to Director Crane. He noted the theme as especially fitting in the light of the yearly increasing demands upon all the nation's natural resources. The Western Association was formed and first met in Utah 40 years ago under the leadership of David H. Madsen, commissioner commis-sioner of the Utah Department of Fish and Game. |
